Today was focused on exploring Carouge.
First, I met a new friend Carmen to check out a baby friendly cafe called Wolfisberg that has a small play area and more high chairs than I've ever seen. Valtteri seemed happy playing with the plastic balls and watching bigger kids climb up and slide down. A few girls tried talking to him, giving him another plastic ball to hold but he, quite unaware of his cuteness maybe, just looked at them with his mouth open ;) A boy instead threw him in the head with a ball - twice - as if just to try if he had understood what I was saying in English, with a tone I thought no one could misunderstand (that's what 10 years raising a terrier does to you).
In the afternoon, when it was nicely over 10 degrees warm, I packed Valtteri into the carrier and we took Rekku to see a little forest area a bit further away by the river. There was no one else there! Nice sporty walk real uphill walks and tree trunks for Rekku to jump over.. and those little white flowers that mean SPRING is here! Ah, this is what I missed about having four seasons!
On our way home we walked by a place that said 'Dog Dancing' on the window. I tried the door, it was locked, but a lady came to open and ask what we wanted. Well.. just curious.. We ended up going inside to see her train a small black dog for canine musical freestyle. They were very good. Her English wasn't so good, but we talked for quite a while since the ribbons and trophies from dog dancing and agility on the wall clearly proved her as a pro. After complementing Rekku on his youthful looks, she wanted to try to do dancing with him. Yes, why not, surely he will follow a treat in French too. And he did! Rekku was swirling and twirling in French and I was beaming with pride :) And then he stopped, with his nose in the air towards a card board box on the side of the studio. Heh, I don't think there is a squeaky toy int he world that could hide from Rekku.. With more enthusiasm Rekku continued dancing in French :D The lady, Christiane, said Rekku would be a very good dancer dog. Hmm.. new hobby for the soon to be retiring agility dog..?

Yesterday we were in the old town of Geneva, enjoying a cup of coffee and lively chat (four Finnish moms..) when them little birdies got a little bit too close.. While taking pictures to proof they were trying to steal Valtteri's croissant from his hand, one managed to steal a piece of croissant from my plate! Angry or not, the birds sure get a bit too close a bit too often in Geneva..
