I love Bernex

We've lived in our village 3,5 weeks now, and I'm still in the honeymoon phase, totally loving it. Bernex has it all: small but good grocery store, cafes, restaurants (incl. Chinese and Thai!! I nearly kissed the waitress when I found out..), bakeries, butcher, post office, doctor, pediatrician, vet, music class, parks, kilometers of pathways for walking, quiet neighborhood that feels safe, greenery everywhere, fresh air.. It seems like a perfect place to live. Lovely, lively village where you can walk anywhere, including the tram stop, from which a tram will take you into Geneva centre in 20 mins.

Our flat is spacious and quiet, with balconies on both sides. Rekku and Valtteri are both at home :) We do not have a lift, and live on the second floor, so we all get a bit of exercise everyday ;) Not to say we don't get our exercise outside, because we love exploring the wine yards and fields outside of the village:

Visitors x 3

Since we moved, we've had visitors after another, and there is more to come! It's nice to have visitors, but it can also be tiring.. Especially when it is right after the move (which, with a toddler is very tiring on its own). The first visitors unfortunately suffered from me being stressed out and tired, trying too much and thus being in a bad mood, rude and.. Geez I am embarrassed just thinking of it. But, as always, trying to learn from my mistakes, this is a note to myself: talk about expectations. Follow through on what was agreed. Relax, do not try too much. Carry on with routines as much as possible. Accept all help offered, it does not mean I cannot do it all myself too - just don't need to when visitors are around!

Here's a few shots of the sightseeing we enjoyed with the visitors:

Rekku 10 years and going strong

Our dog is amazing. He has lived half of his life abroad with us, plus in two different homes in Finland, travelled long distances in planes, ferries and cars, and has never complained (or very little). He turned 10 yesterday. Still plays like a puppy, keeps up with what ever we are up to as long as needed and so on. He is slightly more grumpier than he used to be, but that could also because there has been so much going on lately.

For his birthday, he got a 'mega bone', loads of treats and food, an off leash walk (helped himself to horse poo and a mud bath) and a trip to France, to a top of a mountain:

Rekku and Valtteri get along great. I get asked this a lot! I never leave them alone in the same space, and keep teaching them both the boundaries and correct behavior. Rekku is happy to trot along with me and Valtteri to Geneva, kids play grounds etc., but he clearly enjoys his quality time with me too, be it a play time, a bit of training or a walk with just the two of us. Agility naturally is above all, but because of the move and visitors, we have not been for a while. Next weekend again I hope!

Here are the boys interacting:

"You are going to send us where..? But we're trying help!"

"Mom is so slow, we can go ahead, I'll just open the door.."
Valtteri already knows how to feed Rekku. He will be asking me for an allowance soon, I bet.
